I got an email today. It was from the Hospital for Special Surgery, telling me it was time to complete my 5-Year ACL Reconstruction follow-up questionnaire. . It might sound a bit melodramatic, but when I think back on it, that single, significant setback was the catalyst that hugely changed the direction–and the perspective–of my life. It was the first falling domino that lead me on a path toward even more setbacks, my fair share of failures–and also some of the greatest, most unimaginable successes. It showed me a strength and resiliency I never knew I had. It made me unafraid to fall, and fall hard. Because I knew, from that point going forward, I could–and would–always find a way to get back up. . Sometime last year, @jillfit shared this quote from poet Rainer Maria Rilke: "The purpose of life is to be defeated by greater and greater things." @jadeteta then replied, adding: "…so that we may complete greater and greater things." . Those words have stuck with me, and I've found myself thinking about them often. Tonight, as I look back on the past five years, I simply could not agree with them more. 🌙✨
